The 1st Congress on Smart Cooperation: “Territorial Cooperation fostering European integration: Cities and Regions linking across borders” will be held in A Coruña, on June 25 and 26, 2012

In a context of crisis, it is of major importance to discuss what the benefits of cooperation are, what opportunities it represents and how, through cooperation, Europe can overcome the challenges it faces in the near future. The objective of the Congress is to discuss key messages about why cooperation is the key to achieve Europe 2020 and Single Market goals.

Organized by the CECICN*, the event will bring together senior representatives of European institutions and stakeholders from all European borders. Michel Delebarre, president of the MOT and president of the COTER Commission of the Committee of the Regions will attend.

*The Conference of European Cross-border and Interregional City Networks a (CECICN) was born in 2010. Its objective is to boost territorial cooperation among border cities in Europe and to reinforce the message concerning the importance of territorial cooperation. CECICN involves six cooperation networks that represent more than 500 cities in border regions and 37% of European population. The six networks are: the Mission Opérationnelle Transfrontalière (MOT), the Union of Baltic Cities, the Forum of Adriatic and Ionian Cities, MedCities, the Conference of Atlantic Arc Cities and the Iberian Network of Crossborder Bodies.
The conference is also organized in partnership with the AEBR.

La 1ère Conférence sur la Coopération Intelligente : « La Coopération Territoriale accélérateur de l’intégration européenne : Villes et Régions, traits d’unions par-delà les frontières » se tiendra à La Coruña les 25 et 26 juin 2012.

Dans un contexte marqué par la crise, cet événement vise à faire connaître les avantages et les opportunités que représente la coopération territoriale européenne pour surmonter les défis et les difficultés de l'Europe. Il mettra en avant le rôle décisif de la coopération territoriale pour réaliser les objectifs du Marché Intérieur et de la stratégie Europe 2020.

Organisée par la CECICN*, la conférence réunira des hauts représentants des institutions européennes et des personnalités politiques issues de nombreux territoires frontaliers en Europe. Michel Delebarre,  président de la MOT et président de la Commission COTER du Comité des régions sera présent.
